Li Shixiang

Li Shixiang, professor, doctoral supervisor, Director of the Department of Public Administration, person in charge of emergency management and public policy under the first-class discipline doctoral program of public management, is mainly engaged in the teaching and research in the fields of resources and environmental economy and policy, natural disaster emergency management, public policy and public management, urban governance and regional development. He is the postdoctoral fellow of Institute of Quantitative & Technological Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, visiting scholar of Ted Rogers Management School of Ryerson University in Canada, and also vice chairman of Youth Branch of Chinese Society on Economics of Geology & Mineral Resources, executive director of Hubei Public Management Research Association, executive director of Administrative Management Study Society of Hubei Province and member of China Society of Natural Resources. He has been selected as the candidate of New Century High-level Talents Project of Hubei Province, the outstanding young and medium-aged talents in the Key Laboratory of Legal Evaluation Engineering of Ministry of Land and Resources, and the conscientious and responsible expert of the projects supported by the National Social Science Fund of China, and the theoretical propaganda expert of the lecturer group of Wuhan Municipal Party Committee for learning and implementing Xi Jinping thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era.

From September 2000 to June 2004, he had been studying in China University of Geosciences, majoring in economics, and obtained with a bachelor’s degree in economics; from September 2004 to June 2006, he had been studying in China University of Geosciences, majoring in population, resources and environmental economics, and obtained a master’s degree in economics; from September 2006 to June 2009, he had been studying in Wuhan University, majoring in population, resources and environmental economics, and obtained a doctorate in economics.

Courses offered: Political Economics, Macroeconomics, Public Economics, Public Policy Analysis, Research Methods of Public Management, Frontier of Public Management, Introduction to Emergency Management, and Natural Resource and Environmental Economics. He is undertaking such teaching and research projects as the research on reform of the curriculum system of administrative management based on employment competitiveness, the research on the “three integration” talent training mode of public administration majors, and the construction of Special Research on Public Economics which is high-quality teaching material for postgraduates. Under his instruction, the students have published papers, won the Third Prize in the Twelfth “Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Curricular Academic Science and Technology Works by Race, the Excellent Bachelors Thesis of Hubei Province (2014; 2017), Excellent Bachelors Thesis of China University of Geosciences, and the Grand Prize at the Scientific Papers Competition for Students of the University. The course “Special Topics on Chinese Government Innovation” offered by him was rated as the “most popular course for students”.

In recent years, he has presided over more than 20 various programs, including two programs supported by the National Social Science Fund of China, and has published more than 80 academic papers, many of which have been excerpted or reprinted by Xinhua Digest and China Social Science Excellence, RUC, and one achievement has been selected into the Essential Report of Achievements of NSFC. He has published 3 monographs, compiled 1 textbook and participated in the compilation of 2 textbooks. He has won 1 Second Prize of Hubei Development Research Award, 1 Second Prize of Excellent Achievement Award of the Second Round of Mineral Resources Planning of the Ministry of Land and Resources, 1 Third Prize of Excellent Fruit Award for Energy Soft Science of National Energy Administration, and has participated in the formulation of one industry standard of the Ministry of Natural Resources; one policy proposal was approved by national leaders and three by provincial and ministerial leaders.
