Announcement of Second-Round Examination for MPA Postgraduates of School of Public Administration of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2021

In accordance with the spirit of the “Work Program for Postgraduates Second-round Examination and Admission of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2021” and combined with the actual admission situation of MPA candidates in this School, the MPA postgraduate second-round examination affairs in 2021 are hereby announced as follows:

II. Qualification examination

Candidates should provide qualification materials to MPA Education Center before second-round examination (see the table below for details), and they can participate in the second-round examination only after passing the examination by the qualification examination team.

III. Contents and arrangement of second-round examination

1. Contents of second-round examination: It mainly tests the candidates’ ideological and political quality, professional quality, innovation ability, foreign language level (including listening and speaking), cultivation potential, mental health and so on. Based on the supplementary materials submitted by the candidates, such as college transcripts, graduation theses, scientific research achievements and expert recommendation letters, a comprehensive examination is conducted on the candidate’ past studies, consistent performance, scientific research ability, comprehensive quality and ideological and moral character.

Subjects of second-round examination: (1) Ideological and Political Theory (closed book written examination, 120 minutes, full score of 100 points); (2) comprehensive interview (including background examination, oral English, professional course interview, full score of 100 points)

2. Method, time and place of second-round examination

The off-line examination method will be adopted for on-site centralized assessment. The time and place of second-round examination are as follows:

3. Score calculation

Score of second-round examination: (written examination result (totally 100 points) + interview result (totally 100 points) ×50%

Total score (the sum of preliminary examination results and second-round examination result according to the corresponding weight; see the score calculation section for details) = total score of preliminary examination ÷ sum of full marks of all subjects ×100×60%+ score of second-round examination × 40%.

The second-round examination and total score are calculated in 100 points system, accurate to one decimal place.

IV. Bonus points policy of second-round examination

1. For the candidates who have participated in and completed the “Go-west College Graduates Volunteer Program”, “Three Supports and One Assistance Plan”, “Special Post Plan for Teachers in Rural Compulsory Education Stage” and “Volunteer Chinese Teachers Abroad” and passed the examination, 10 points will be added to the total score of preliminary examination and preferential admission will be given under the same conditions if they take part in the national postgraduate entrance examination within 3 years.

2. For college students who have been enlisted in the army and retired from active service and have met the requirements for enrollment, 10 points will be added to the total score of preliminary examination and preferential admission will be given under the same conditions if they take part in the national postgraduate entrance examination within 3 years. Those enrolled in the special program of “Retired College Student Soldiers” will no longer enjoy the policy of bonus points in preliminary examination for retired college student soldiers.

3. For the candidates who have participated in and completed the service period of “The University Student Village Official” program and have passed the assessment of being competent or above, 10 points will be added to the total score of preliminary examination and preferential admission will be given under the same conditions if they take part in the national postgraduate entrance examination within 3 years. 15 points will be added to the total score of preliminary examination for those applying for humanities and social sciences majors.

The bonus items are not cumulative, and the candidates who meet more than two bonus conditions at the same time will get the highest bonus point. Candidates who meet the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education and have reached the score line of second-round examination after enjoying the postgraduate admission bonus policy, please send relevant supporting materials to the Admission Office of Graduate School of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) before March 26 (yzb@cug.edu.cn). After passing the examination, they are allowed to participate in the second-round examination.

V. Admission

1. Admission category: targeted (limited to in-service targeted employment personnel).The candidates must sign targeted training contract with the admission unit and employing unit respectively before being admitted. The personnel files will not be transferred upon admission. Upon graduation, they will be employed according to the targeted contract.

2. Admission rules: The proposed admission list will be determined according to the total score (the sum of preliminary examination results and second-round examination result according to the corresponding weight; see the score calculation section for details) from high to low.

3. Political examination. After the candidates confirm that they are to be admitted, they should provide the MPA education center with the “Ideological and Political Performance Examination Form for Master Candidates to be Admitted” (filled in and sealed by the personnel or Political Work Department of the candidates’ unit) for political examination within the specified time. Those who fail to pass the political examination will not be admitted.

4. Physical examination. There is no physical examination during the second-round examination, and the candidates will take part in the entrance examination after admission. There are two ways of physical examination, and the candidates can choose either. First, candidates can go to our hospital for physical examination at the prescribed time; second, candidates can go to the local hospital of second grade or above for physical examination and mail the physical examination report to MPA Education Center at the specified time.

VI. Points for attention

1. Candidates are required to pay the examination fee (RMB 100 Yuan / person / time) through the online payment platform of the Financial Section of the University (website: http://pay.cug.edu.cn/xysf/ ) before the second-round examination;

2. Candidates should sign the “Letter of Commitment for Integrity in Second-round Examination” before taking the examination, strictly abide by the examination discipline and confidentiality requirements, and do not release any contents related to the examination, especially the questions;

3. Candidates are required to arrive at the examination site 40 minutes before the examination. When entering the examination room, they are required to bring their second generation ID card and admission card. When taking the written examination, they are required to place their ID card and admission card in the upper left corner of their seats;

4. Candidates need to wear masks before entering the examination room, cooperate with the staff to detect body temperature, and pay attention to personal and environmental hygiene.
