Program of the 7th Campus Open Day for Postgraduate Admissions in 2021 of School of Public Administration

School of Public Administration has three major disciplines: engineering, management and law, with outstanding characteristics of resources management. There are six undergraduate programs: public service administration, administrative management, law, land resources management, land consolidation engineering and emergency management. It has a first-class post-doctoral mobile station of public administration and a discipline authorized to offer doctoral degree for public administration; two disciplines authorized to offer master’s degree for public administration and law, and has the right to offer the professional degrees for master of public administration (MPA), Juris Master (J.M.) and master of resources and environment. Among them, the first-class discipline of public management is a key discipline in Hubei Province, which was selected as a four-star discipline in A Report on the Competitiveness Evaluation of Universities and Subjects in China in 2014. The majors of land resources management and public administration have been selected as the national first-class undergraduate program. The law major was selected into the “Jingchu outstanding legal talents collaborative education program” for ordinary undergraduate universities in Hubei Province in 2018. Now SPA has formed a complete teaching system covering undergraduate program, graduate program, doctoral program, and continuing education. There are 77 faculty members, including16 professors and 34 associate professors (including distinguished associate professor), 13 doctoral supervisors and 60 full-time master supervisors. The proportion of teachers with doctoral degree is 92.3%, 100% of young teachers below the age of 35 have doctoral degree, and 84.6% of teachers have experience in studying abroad. The program of the 7th Campus Open Day for Postgraduate Admissions in 2021 of this School is hereby notified as follows:

I. Qualification required

1. 2022 graduates from high-level universities, with competent political thought, sound body and mind, positive ideals and observing law and discipline;

2. The comprehensive score ranks top 50% of the class; Or have outstanding performance in other aspects, such as strong interest in scientific research, strong innovation ability and excellent academic achievements, etc. (they must provide relevant supporting materials such as scientific research achievements and competitions, as well as recommendation letters from two associate professors or above in the professional field of the students);

3. Excellent foreign language proficiency, CET-4 or equivalent scores in other foreign language examinations.

II. Schedule and arrangement

1. Registration: From now on to June 20, students can log in to the online registration system of CUG postgraduate admission information network (the campus open day registration system for postgraduate admission: http://epo.cug.edu.cn/Open/ZsTkssXly/Signin.aspx for registration. Students need to complete the relevant information in the application system, including the graduate school, school applied for, prospective supervisor, etc. Whether the information is complete or not will be one of the conditions of the shortlisted notice.

2. Submit one application form (derived from the system for double-sided printing) for 2021 campus open day activities of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and the original and copy of all kinds of relevant certification materials, including the original and copy of ID card, the original and copy of student ID card, the original of school transcript, the original of comprehensive score ranking materials (issued and sealed by the undergraduate academic affairs office), the original and copy of CET-4 and CET-6 transcript, awards or other honors and other supporting materials.

The original and copies of all paper materials will be submitted on the day of registration. The School will review the materials submitted (the original will be returned on the spot), and the materials submitted must be consistent with the contents filled in the system.

3. The campus open day will be from June 29 to 30.

4. The School will publish the list of selected students on its homepage on June 22. Those who are not selected will not be informed.

III. Specific schedule

IV. Content of second-round examination

Second-round examination will mainly test the candidates’ ideological and political quality, professional quality, innovation ability, foreign language level, cultivation potential, and mental health, etc.

1. Written examination of professional courses

Closed-book examination, full score of 100, lasting 120 minutes.

The subjects for written examination are in the table below.

2. Interview

The full score of interview is 100, and the score distribution and proportion of the main assessment parts of interview are as follows:

English listening and speaking ability: 20 points;

Professional knowledge and comprehensive quality: 80 points.

V. Talent selection

1. Total score = interview score × 70% + written test × 30%.

2. Students who have participated in the campus open day activities and passed the interview and second-round examination organized by the admission unit: if he/she gets the qualification of recommended exam-free candidate from the graduating university and submits an application to the admission unit, he/she will be given priority to be admitted as a master degree candidate (academic or professional) in 2022, and enjoy the first-class scholarship in the first year; or, if he/she takes part in the 2022 national master entrance examination and apply for our School as the first choice, with the preliminary examination results reaching the basic requirements for second-round examination of corresponding major, and agrees to adjustment, he/she will be given priority to be admitted. In addition, the pre-selection of MD-PhD based candidates and master-to-doctoral candidates will be carried out among the students with recommended exam-free potential.

VI. Points for attention

1. If false registration materials or certificates are found, all qualifications obtained therefrom will be cancelled, and the School reserves the right to investigate.

2. Students participating in the open day activities must abide by the relevant regulations of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and participate in the activities according to the unified arrangement.

3. Policy guarantee

(1) Accommodation: Our School will provide free accommodation for students from non-local universities during the specified period for open day activities (Note: No accommodation will be arranged for students whose university or family is located in Wuhan), and the accommodation time is June 28 to 30. Accommodation in non-designated hotel shall be paid by the students.

(2) Traffic: Students from non-local colleges and universities are requested to book their own round-trip tickets (second-class seat of EMU and hard sleeper). For non-local students who participate in the whole process of campus open day activities, the travel expenses to and from Wuhan will be reimbursed with tickets (Reimbursement shall be based on the regulations of the financial department of the University and the standards for postgraduates, and the round-trip tickets should be sent by post, with account number and bank, preferably ICBC).

4. After registration, the students are required to participate in the whole process and are not allowed to leave school without permission; otherwise the sponsor will not provide relevant funding.

5. Insurance: it is suggested that all students participating in the activity should purchase travel accident insurance by themselves.

6. Epidemic prevention and control:

The students should make preparation for personal protection according to the epidemic prevention and control requirements of their local place and the University. Students participating in the campus open day can enter and leave the university during the campus open day with their ID cards and the application form for the 2021 campus open day of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
