2020 Hubei Development Forum Organized by This School

(Reported by Kang Qiying and Liu Mengru) On Oct. 31, 2020, 2020 Hubei Development Forum (7th Symposia) was held in CUG, which was jointly sponsored by Hubei Federation of Social Science Circles and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), jointly organized by Society Working Department of Hubei Federation of Social Science Circles and School of Public Administration of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). The forum focused on the themes about the “Urban Development Trend and Governance Path in the Post-epidemic Era”.

The symposia was presided over by the Dean of School of Public Administration of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Professor Wang Zhanqi. Over 60 teachers and students took part in the symposia, including Professor Tang Huangfeng from Wuhan University, Director Zhang Xianchu from Jiayu Bureau of Emergency Management, Xu Wei, the Director  of Society Working Department of Hubei Federation of Social Society Circles, Wen Rong, the Deputy Director of Society Working Department of Hubei Federation of Social Society Circles, all colleagues, Professor Guo Haixiang, the Deputy Director of Office of Scientific Research and Development, Wang Zhong, the Deputy Dean of School of Public Administration, Professor Li Shixiang, the director of Department of Public Administration.

Professor Tang Huangfeng made an academic report entitled “Urban Governance in Post-epidemic Era”. From the prospective of the urban governance in the post-epidemic era, he made an all-round analysis of the shortage of the urban governance arising in the process of the epidemic prevention and control and pertinently proposed the development direction and path of the urban governance modernization in the post-epidemic era in combination with the overall goal of urban governance system building in “14th-Five-Year”.  

Director Zhang Xianchu, in combination with the his working experience, explained the present situation of the emergency management in Hubei Province in the post-epidemic era around the “emergency management system building”, deeply discussed the problems in emergency management from personnel, mechanism, right and responsibility system, put forward the pertinent suggestion and provided important reference for the building of the urban emergency management system in the post-epidemic era.  

Professor Guo Haixiang made an academic report entitled Data-driven Prevention and Control and Decision-making Optimization of Sudden Public Health Event. According to the development trend of the epidemic, he divided the sudden public health event into epidemic rising stage, epidemic control stage and epidemic recovery stage, made a quantized analysis of the circumstances of the sudden public health event in different stages from the prospective of data and technology, summarized the scientific laws and put forward the related policy suggestions based on it.  

Professor Li Shixiang made an academic report entitled Toughness Evaluation and Governance Path of Urban Development in Post-epidemic Era. He sorted out the origin and development process of the urban roughness research and made a contrast analysis of the research progress in urban roughness at home and abroad with the literature quantitative analysis method. Meanwhile, he discussed the urban roughness evaluation systems and methods and put forward the governance path of the urban development roughness in the post-epidemic era from the prospective of economy, society, system, facility and ecology.  

The symposia, with high lights, made great impression on teachers and students.  The Dean of School of Public Administration, Professor Wang Zhanqi gave heart-felt thanks to three professors and Director Zhang Xianchu. He also pointed out that this symposia played an important role in creating the dense academic atmosphere, enlightening the scientific research idea and innovating the research prospective and was of great enlightenment significance to formulate the related policy for the urban development and governance in Hubei Province.
