The Meeting for Project Proposal of the “Research on the Path of Ecological Priority and Green Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt”, A Key Project Supported by The Social Science Fund of Hubei Province and A New Think Tank Project of Hubei Prov

(Correspondent: Bai Jun) The meeting for project proposal of the “Research on the Path of Ecological Priority and Green Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt”, a key project supported by the Social Science Fund of Hubei Province and a new think tank project of Hubei Province with Professor Li Shixiang of School of Public Administration of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) as the project leader, was successfully held in B705 of the Multi-functional Building in east quarter of Nanwang Mountain Campus.

The expert group composed of Wu Xinmu, professor of Wuhan University, Yang Shuming, research fellow and Vice President of Hubei Academy of Social Sciences, Chang Xianbo, Director of Yangtze River Economic Belt Development Department of Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Pan Feng, professor of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, and Liu Kan from the River and Lake Protection, Construction and Operation Safety Center of Changjiang Water Resources Commission attended the meeting. Professor Cheng Jinhua, deputy secretary of the Party committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Professor Li Shixiang, the project leader and chief expert, and all members of the project team attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Professor Guo Haixiang, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology Development of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).

Professor Cheng Jinhua extended a warm welcome to the experts attending the meeting. He pointed out that the approval of the project of “Research on the Path of Ecological Priority and Green Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt” was the result of Professor Li Shixiang's long-term accumulation and hard research. He hoped that the experts would give further guidance to the research contents and methods, so as to refine the research ideas and contribute wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of Yangtze River Economic Belt and the construction of new think tanks in Hubei.

Professor Li Shixiang made a report on the background and significance, the current situation and problems, the research ideas and framework, the path and policy mechanism, and the preliminary basis of the project. The expert group gave positive evaluation on the research value and framework design of the project. They had always believed that the project was of great significance, clear problem orientation, reasonable research design, prominent key contents and scientific analysis methods, which had important theoretical value and practical significance for Hubei to promote the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt during the “14th five-year plan”, to speed up “building a fulcrum, walking in the forefront and writing a new chapter”, and to become an important strategic fulcrum for the rise of central China. In addition, the expert group also put forward opinions and suggestions to the research group from “how to dialectically understand the internal logical relationship between ecological priority and green development”, “the specific path for Hubei Yangtze River Economic Belt to adhere to ecological priority and green development”, the “policy suggestions for Hubei Yangtze River Economic Belt to adhere to ecological priority and green development” and the writing standards and requirements of “Think Tank Achievements Report” of Hubei Province. Finally, on behalf of the research group, Professor Li Shixiang expressed his gratitude to the experts for their valuable opinions. He said that he would further improve the research design according to the experts’ opinions and complete the research with high quality.

In the concluding speech, Professor Guo Haixiang expressed his gratitude to all experts for their long-standing concern, support and help to China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). At the same time, on behalf of the Institute of Science and Technology Development, he said that the Institute would strongly support and cooperate with Professor Li Shixiang’s research work to provide guarantee for the smooth development of the project.
