Professor Huang Delin of Our School Led the Research Group to Xiaogan City to Investigate the Construction of High-Standard Farmland

    On October 11-12, 2021, Professor Huang Delin, head of the research group of "Strengthening the Construction of High-standard Farmland and Improving the Basic Guarantee Ability of Food Security in Hubei Province" of Hubei Provincial Research Association for Agriculture, Rural Areas and Farmers, PhD supervisor of School of Public Management, China University of Geosciences, led the research group to Xiaogan City to conduct research activities on high-standard farmland construction projects. The participants include Cai Huadong, member of the research group and former editor-in-chief of Hubei Daily Media Group, Yu Jian, Shao Jing, Ren Shuai and Cui Xueting, postgraduates of public administration of our School, and Hu Xuehua and Shi Yanqi, undergraduates of the School of Public Administration.

    At 2:30 p.m. on October 11, Prof. Huang and members of the research team attended the symposium in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xiaogan City. The symposium was chaired by Liu Hualin, member of the party group of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xiaogan City, Chen Hanxi, deputy director of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xiaogan City, and heads of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xiaonan District, Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Yunmeng County, Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xiaochang County, Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Yingcheng City and other counties, cities, districts and relevant townships and villages made speeches on the construction of high-standard basic farmland. Prof. Huang and the spokesmen of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of each district discussed and exchanged views on the achievements, successful experiences, main problems and future policy suggestions for the construction of high-standard farmland.

     At 8: 30 a.m. on October 12, Professor Huang Delin led the members of the research group to visit Shengxian Farm, Baicaohu Village, Xinpu Town, Xiaonan District, to learn about the development path of Shengxian Farm to promote the construction of beautiful countryside with prosperous industry. Afterwards, the research group drove to the green farmland demonstration pilot project base in Tongmiao Village, Yangdian Town, Xiaonan District, where Professor Huang had a face-to-face discussion with the local villagers and gained an in-depth understanding of the great changes brought by the development of local high-standard farmland construction to the production and life of the villagers. At the last stop of the field trip, Prof. Huang and members of the research group went to visit the high-standard farmland construction project in Qiyu Village, Wupu Town, Yunmeng County. Since then, this research activity was successfully concluded.

   Arable land is the basis of grain production. Realizing the whole area, overall and comprehensive improvement of arable land can help promote the construction of high-standard farmland and effectively contribute to the implementation of rural revitalization strategy, and at the same time, the construction of high-standard farmland can play a driving role in China's economic development to a considerable extent.
