A Safety Education Lecture Smoothly Held in School of Public Administration

In order to strengthen the students' awareness of safety and defense, a safety education lecture of School of Public Administration was held in Room 110, No. 3 Teaching Building at 19:00 on May 13, 2021. Attendants included Liu Guohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Public Administration, Li Shuhui, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Wang Qingtao, Wu Bo, Li Wenwei, Wang Xinyu and Zhou Jiayi, the grade counselors, and the representatives of undergraduates and graduate students in each grade. The meeting invited Associate Professor Wu Heming from Institute of Applied Psychology, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Deputy Director Shan Hongfeng from the Security Department to educate everyone on mental health and security against telecommunication network fraud.

Firstly, Professor Wu Heming gave a special lecture on "Knowing and Understanding Our Psychology". Mr. Wu is a registered supervisor of the registration system of Chinese Psychological Society, and has great influence in the fields of psychoanalysis and psychological counseling.

Mr. Wu firstly introduced the objects and the research methods of psychology, and then gave an in-depth explanation from the aspects of "behavior", "cognition and emotion", etc. Through a large number of vivid short stories, Mr. Wu told everyone that it was important for us to understand ourselves, our various behaviors and our classmates. We should not only understand the changes in our own behaviors, but also understand the changes in our classmates’ behaviors, and give timely feedback to teachers so as to get proper attention from them.

Mr. Wu also introduced the causes of negative emotions and behaviors, and called on the students to identify, recognize and understand their own emotions. Then Mr. Wu recommended several ways to express emotions, such as writing down your feelings, listening to music, playing ball games with friends, and it's better to express your feelings in language. Only when we express our emotions in a proper way, can the emotions not affect ourselves.

Mr. Wu's wonderful lecture emphasized the importance of understanding oneself, told us what behaviors conveyed and how to analyze it, helped the students better understand behaviors and emotions, and strengthened self-awareness and emotion management.

Deputy Secretary Liu Guohua concluded that Mr. Wu's lecture helped students to understand themselves better and achieve better development goals. We should recognize the new burden on ourselves, plant our own contracted responsibility field, do what we should do at the right stage, better adapt to the development of society, and become a better self.

Secondly, Shan Hongfeng, Deputy Director of Security Department, gave a lecture on "How to Prevent Telecommunication Network Fraud".

Deputy Director Shan Hongfeng firstly mentioned that telecommunication network fraud seriously disturbed social stability and social order, and must be in strict prevention and control. Then, He analyzed the background and current situation of telecommunication network fraud, and illustrated several forms of fraud with examples, including: pretending to be customer service, pretending to be QQ friends, recharging game currency, swiping online bills, naked chatting, etc., and reminded students to strengthen their discriminating power.

Regarding how to prevent telecommunication network fraud, he recommended the following measures: 1. Always be alert and tighten the string of thoughts; 2. Strangers asking for online payment, remittance, and verification code were all frauds; 3. Don't be tempted by small interests, there will be no pie in the sky.

After that, he strongly advocated the students to seriously study the online anti-fraud course provided by "Security in CUG", and he believed that everyone would gain a lot after learning it. Finally, he stressed that if you encounter fraud, you should keep calm, report it to teachers and the university in time, report it to the police in time, and sumed up with one sentence-"tightening the guard string and tightening the money bag".

Deputy Director Shan Hongfeng's lecture was humorous and effective, which rung the alarm for fraud prevention and won warm applause from the students.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Secretary Liu Guohua expressed his gratitude for the wonderful speech delivered by Deputy Director Shan, and asked the students to complete the registration and study of anti-fraud online courses in time, and earnestly "take care of themselves and protect themselves", so as to protect their own safety in all aspects. The meeting ended successfully with warm applause from the students.

This lecture on safety education in School of Public Administration was rich in content, and the explanations given by Professor Wu Heming and Deputy Director Shan Hongfeng explained the profound things in a simple way, it was vivid and interesting, which made students get more knowledge about psychology and anti-fraud skills, and provided a strong guarantee for everyone's physical and mental health and safety of life and property. I believed all the students had gained a lot. And he believed that the students could apply the content learned in the lecture to the later life, and protect their own safety in all aspects.
