A Meeting of Epidemic Prevention and Control During Holiday Held by Department of Public Administration

(Reported by Qian Wenqiang) On Aug. 4, 2021, confronted with the severe epidemic, an online meeting of epidemic prevention and control during holiday was held Department of Public Administration, which was chaired by the department head Professor Li Shixiang. All of the teachers in this department participated in the online meeting at home. The meeting focused three topics for discussion: 1. The spirits of CUG and SPA about the epidemic prevention and control; 2. Teaching practice readjustment plan; 3. Epidemic prevention and control and arrangement of this department.  

As to the first topic, Professor Li Shixiang firstly passed on the new requirements on the epidemic prevention and control by CUG: it was stressed by CUG that each teaching unit should do well in the teaching and practice working preplan in the severe situation of the epidemic prevention and control; then he passed on the arrangement of SPA about epidemic prevention and control, student management and leave of absence, teaching practice and graduate employment, stressed that the current employment was confronted with the low employment rate, so the head teachers and the advisers should offer guidance to the students for the employment and urged the students to actively look for work.  

As to the second topic, entrusted by Professor Li Shixiang, Doctor Qian Wenqiang reported Teaching Practice Readjustment Plan of Department of Public Administration (Draft) to all teachers. After reporting, the teachers talked about this plan freely and actively put forward the valuable modification opinions and suggestions. Professor Li Shixiang stressed that the plan should fully absorb the opinions and suggestions from the teachers, form a preliminary plan as soon as possible and submit to SPA for approval in combination with the practice in Hongshan District and Zigui Base.  

As to the third topic, the secretary of Party Branch of this department, Associate Professor Liu Zhonglan made a further explanation and arrangement concerning the epidemic prevention and control as well as the student employment. Deputy department head Zhang Shiju proposed specific requirements on the undergraduate teaching work in the next semester. Secretary Liu Zhonglan stressed that the teachers with teaching tasks should return to the campus in advance according to the requirements of CUG and SPA; except Teacher Tang Jian in Beijing for a long term and Teacher Wang Zhong in Zigui Base, most of the teachers were in Wuhan; all teachers should plan the scientific research and the teaching of the postgraduates as a whole and make preparations for both online and offline teaching; do not urge the students to return to the campus as much as possible and postpone the outgoing survey and arrangement; the advisers shall know the real situation about the employment, try to find out the real intention, understand the problems and difficulties in employment and actively offer guidance to the students for employment. Secretary Liu Zhonglan especially stressed that epidemic prevention and control was a great event and all teacher should pay attention to it, take appreciate measures in time, do well in individual protection and support the epidemic prevention and protection. As to the undergraduate teaching, Deputy Department Head Zhang Shiju stressed that the teachers undertaking the teaching tasks in the next semester shall make preparations for online and offline teaching, actively know well the online teaching software and platform recommended by the teaching affairs department.  

Finally, Deputy Dean Wang Zhong concluded the meeting and stressed that all teachers should adjust the teaching practice plan, improve the sense of gain of the students about the online practice in the special period; the practice advisers should strengthen the management of the online practice; at the same time, all teachers shall make preparations for both online and offline teaching; finally, both teachers shall do well in individual protection, pay attention to the latest arrangement for the epidemic prevention and control and actively cooperate with the community and support its epidemic prevention and control.
