A Symposium on the Development of Law Discipline

(Reported by Huan Ji’e, Song Dongdong) On October 15, 2021, our School held a research symposium on the development of law discipline. Secretary Zhang Kuanyu, Dean Hu Shougeng, Deputy Dean Cai Huilian, Deputy Dean Wang Zhong and other members of the school leadership team went to the Department of Law to carry out research and discussion on the development of law discipline. Zhou Xuewu, Secretary of the Department of Land Resources Management, and Director Zhu Jianghong, Liu Zhonglan, Secretary of the Department of Public Administration, and Director Li Shixiang participated in the exchange, and all teachers of the Department of Law attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Secretary Zhang Kuanyu.

Secretary Zhang firstly introduced the background and purpose of this research symposium. He proposed to listen to the teachers' opinions and suggestions on the development of the school and the discipline, discuss on how to strengthen the connection between the teaching of law and the thinking and political work of the Party, optimize the relationship between the mainstream and the strong characteristics, enhance the effectiveness and blood-making function of the cultivation of law, realize the high-quality development of the discipline, strengthen the construction of the discipline platform, set up a powerful scientific research team, enhance the teachers' awareness of participation and worries, and establish and improve the sound and dynamic management and operation mechanism.

All the teachers of Department of Law spoke one by one around the nine aspects proposed by Secretary Zhang, analyzing the specific problems faced by the development of law discipline in faculty, title evaluation, discipline positioning, platform construction, team building, talent training, social services, think tank support, etc., and made suggestions and reflected the actual needs.

Then, Director Zhu Jianghong and Secretary Zhou Xuewu from the Department of Land Resources Management and Director Li Shixiang and Secretary Liu Zhonglan from the Department of Public Administration exchanged their experiences on the construction of their respective disciplines and the development of deep cross-fertilization with law. Deputy Dean Wang Zhong and Deputy Dean Cai Huilian, members of the leadership team of the School, made a speech to guide the development of the discipline of law.

Dean Hu Shougeng pointed out that this investigation and exchange was thorough and productive, unifying the understanding, finding the gaps and clarifying the direction of efforts. The next step would be to make efforts to solve problems from improving relevant system and mechanism, internal tapping, platform construction and cross-disciplinary construction. Secretary Zhang Kuanyu concluded that the purpose of this meeting was to open up new ideas, improve dynamic potential, do a better job, encourage teachers to make more suggestions and contribute to the development of disciplines in the School.
