CUG Launched a Series of Learning and Publicity Activities on “12·4” National Constitution Day

CUG News (Reported by Lv Lingyan, Sun Bowen) December 4 is the eighth National Constitution Day in China. In order to study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks and requirements on the Constitution, guide all students and teachers to learn and respect the Constitution, the Comprehensive Reform and Policies and Regulations Office of the University, together with the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee, the Undergraduate School, the Labor Union of the University, the Youth League Committee of the University, the School of Public Administration and the affiliated schools, jointly carried out a series of rule of law learning and education activities according to the requirements of the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Sixth National Student Activity of "Learning the Constitution and Publicizing the Constitution".

  Morning Reading of the Constitution to Learn the Law

 

  On December 3, the Ministry of Education set up the main venue for "Morning Reading of the Constitution" in Beijing, and our university set up a branch venue in the lecture hall of the School of Public Administration through Internet. Wang Linqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Tao Jidong, Director of the Comprehensive Reform and Policies and Regulations Office of the University, Zhang Kuanyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Public Administration, and Hu Shougeng, Dean of the School of Public Administration, and some faculty student representatives participated in the activity online simultaneously. Wang Linqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, made the message and requests for the Constitution Promotion Week activity.

Making Integrated Efforts to Promote Law Popularization

 

  In order to promote the Constitution knowledge and serve the legal needs of the university staff, the university labor union, together with the Comprehensive Reform and Policies and Regulations Office and the School of Public Administration, provided free consultation activities for the faculty and staff of the university staff in the Eastern Quarter on December 3, which was welcomed by the faculty and staff.

From Dec. 3 to 4, the Youth League Committee and the Law Association of the University held a law promotion activity with the theme of "Sending Law to Campus - Prize Quiz" in front of the gymnasium of Nanwangshan Campus, so as to form a strong atmosphere of learning the Constitution, respecting the Constitution and striving to be the "Constitution Guardian" among college students.

 

  To carry forward the tradition of respect for the elderly, pass on legal knowledge, and give full play to the professional social service function, the Law Association, together with 19 volunteers from the Most Beautiful Sunset Red Volunteer Group for the Elderly, went to Kangshou Nursing Home in Chucai Community, Wuchang District to carry out the “law promotion activity on respecting the elderly and fraud prevention”.

 

  On December 3, the affiliated school launched the law promotion activity of "Learning the Constitution and Publicizing the Constitution”. The student representatives held a flag-raising ceremony and recited parts of the Constitution in unison under the leadership of the brigade counselor Duan Yaqing, and listened to a lecture on the Constitution by Huan Ji'e of the Department of Law of the School of Public Administration.

The Activities Set off the Constitution Learning Upsurge

  In accordance with the requirements of Hubei Provincial Department of Education on the learning and practice objectives and tasks of the 2021 "Constitution Guardian" Action Plan, the Undergraduate School of the University adopted the learning model of "learning-practice-comprehensive evaluation" and carried out the online learning activity of constitutional knowledge for all undergraduate students, which achieved good educational effectiveness. There were 13847 undergraduates of our School participating in the activity, with an average study score of 92.43, creating an upsurge in studying the Constitution among students.

 

On December 4, the final round of the speech contest on "Learning the Constitution and Publicizing the Constitution" was held in the mock courtroom of Nanwangshan Campus. The 10 students selected from the university-wide preliminaries entered the final round. After fierce competition, Zhang Ge, a postgraduate of Grade 2020 in Law, won the first prize in speech contest. The speech contest on "Learning the Constitution and Publicizing the Constitution" has been held for eight consecutive years in CUG

 

  In order to enhance the legal service ability and improve the legal practice literacy, the Comprehensive Reform and Policies and Regulations Office of CUG, the School of Public Administration and RICC & CO. jointly organized a legal practice exchange activity. Shen Dali, director of RICC & CO., and his team of 11 people held a special salon to share with the law students and teachers the lawyer industry, law firm model, lawyer practice and the ability to deal with legal issues.

 

  On Dec. 2, Prof. Wang Zongting was invited to give a special lecture on the topic of rule of law at the Key Laboratory of Rule of Law Research of the Ministry of Natural Resources in Nanwangshan Campus, with the title of "Acting in Faith". Starting from the difference between familiarity and true knowledge, Wang Zongting explained to students and teachers the way of the rule of law for young people in the new era from four aspects: "consideration of learning", "learning and believing in the way", "the way to the future ", and "life under law".
