(Reported as Li Jijie; Photographed by Wei Xiguang) On December 8, Professor Shen Tiyan of Peking University was appointed as an adjunct professor of School of Public Administration. Zhang Kuanyu, Secretary of the Party committee of this School, Cai Huilian, Wang Zhong and Gong Jian, deputy deans of the School, and teacher representatives from the Department of Public Administration and the Department of Land Management attended the appointment ceremony which was presided over by Gong Jian.
Cai Huilian, deputy dean of the School, introduced the basic situation of the university and the school. Zhang Kuanyu, Secretary of the party committee of the school, expressed a warm welcome to Professor Shen Tiyan as an adjunct professor of the school. Professor Shen Tiyan is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Government, Peking University, executive dean of PKU Institute of Urban Governance, vice president of the Beijing Development Institute, and a double-appointed professor of the Center for Computational Science & Engineering and the Peking University Institute of Ocean Research. He holds social positions such as Vice Chairman of Regional Science Association of China, Director of China Economic and Social Council, and member of Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Professional Committee of Science and Technology Commission of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Hawaii, Harvard University, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and the East and West Center in the United States. He was the editorial director of China Regional Economy, a training expert of the World Bank on urban development strategies, and an anonymous reviewer of Environmental Planning (B), Landscape and Urban Planning, and Annals of the Association of American Geographers.
Professor Shen Tiyan said he was very happy to be invited to return to his hometown Hubei, to be appointed as a professor in the School of Public Administration of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), to join the family of the School of Public Administration, and hoped to contribute to the development of the School of Public Administration in the future.
Zhang Kuanyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, expressed his gratitude and honor to Professor Shen Tiyan for joining the faculty of the School of Public Administration. He believed that Professor Shen's joining will bring new strength to the development of the School of Public Administration, which is in line with the school-running philosophy of "Open Public Administration". He also believed that with more and more famous scholars and scholars like Professor Shen joining the School, the discipline development of the School of Public Administration will be promising in the 14th Five-Year Plan.
