The Sixth Postgraduate Congress of the School of Public Administration Ended Successfully

On the afternoon of December 16, the Sixth Postgraduate Congress of the School of Public Administration of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) was held in the lecture hall of the North No. 1 Building. Mr. Liu Guohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Wang Qingtao, Wu Bo and Wang Xinyu, counselors of the School, part-time counselor Zhang Luyao, and 37 delegates attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Zhang Ge, a member of the presidium of 2021 Graduate Student Association of the School.

The main task of this congress is to listen to and review the work report of the 2021 Graduate Student Association of the School and the report on the draft revision of the “Rules for the Implementation of Academic Scholarship Assessment for Postgraduates in the School of Public Administration”, and to elect the members of the presidium of 2022 Graduate Student Association of the School. 37 student representatives from 5 delegations, including postgraduate of Grade 2021, Grade 2020 and Grade 2019, doctoral students and Graduate Student Association shouldered expectations and responsibilities, performed their duties seriously and all attended the congress. 

The first phase of the congress: Opening Ceremony

The congress was opened with the majestic national anthem. At the beginning of the congress, Mr. Liu Guohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, and Mr. Wang Qingtao, Counselor, issued the appointment letters to the members of the presidium of the 2021 Graduate Student Association and the head of each department respectively. After that, Yu Jian, the deputy secretary of the Student League Committee, made a report on the qualification examination of the delegates to the congress. The delegates voted on a show of hands, and the qualification of the delegates was valid.

The second phase of the congress: listen to and review the work report of the 2021 Graduate Student Association of the School and the report on the draft revision of the “Rules for the Implementation of Academic Scholarship Assessment for Postgraduates in the School of Public Administration”

First of all, Zhang Ge, a member of the Presidium of the 2021 Graduate Student Association of the School, made a work report of the Graduate Student Association in 2021, introduced the work achievements of the Graduate Student Association in 2021 from three aspects of thought leadership, internal construction and service to students, analyzed the problems and challenges of the Association to continue to move forward, and made the outlook and planning of the work of the Graduate Student Association in 2022 on the basis of responding to the pain points.

After that, Song Zewen, a member of the Presidium of the 2021 Graduate Student Association of the School, made a report on the draft revision of the “Rules for the Implementation of Academic Scholarship Assessment for Postgraduates in the School of Public Administration”. After careful examination and a show of hands by 37 delegates, the report on the draft revision of the “Rules for the Implementation of Academic Scholarship Assessment for Postgraduates in the School of Public Administration” was adopted.

The third phase of the congress: Election of the member of Presidium for the 2022 Graduate Student Association

The campaign was conducted in the form of 5-minute PowerPoint presentation plus 3-minute on-site questions. There were five candidates, namely, Zhang Shaojian, a graduate student of Grade 2021 majoring in Public Administration, Liao Xinxin, a graduate student of Grade 2021 majoring in Public Administration, Zhang Yumei, a graduate student of Grade 2021 majoring in Law, Xing Shuxuan, a graduate student of Grade 2021 majoring in Resources and Environment, and Tu Sihuan, a graduate student of Grade 2021 majoring in Public Administration.

In the process of election defense, the five candidates reported their study and work experience, and put forward their plans and prospects for the work of the Graduate Student Association respectively. The guests and representatives of graduate students asked questions enthusiastically, and the atmosphere was warm.

The congress ended with a speech by Mr. Liu Guohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School. He affirmed the efforts, dedication and achievements of all members of the 2021 Graduate Student Association over the past year, and congratulated the newly elected members of the presidium. He said that the work of the Graduate Student Association was innovative and effective, and has presented many highlights in the areas of thought leadership, stimulating the vitality of scientific research and innovation, building a colorful practice platform, enriching the school culture, and protecting the rights and interests of students, and was again awarded the honor of "Model Graduate Student Association" with the first overall score. He also proposed that the Graduate Student Association should further strengthen the ideological leadership and its own capacity building, abide by the student's role, remember the service purpose, strictly adhere to the disciplinary requirements, closely combine the professional reality and student characteristics of the School, adhere to the point of entry, combination and focus of the work from and to the students, guide the majority of students to actively integrate into the construction of the great era, develop excellent skills, contribute wisdom and strength to the construction of "excellent, harmonious, happy, and open School of Public Administration", and better promote the Graduate Student Association to unite their efforts, uphold integrity and bring forth new ideas, strictly govern the Association, integrate and innovate, and create new achievements.
